About Us
The Rose City Thunderbirds was formed in 1973, and became Chapter #51 in the Classic Thunderbird Club International a year later. Since that time, the club has continued to grow. Currently there are over 88 families on the membership roll.
The Rose City Thunderbirds maintain an active schedule, both locally and nationally within CTCI. We conduct tech sessions, tours, dinners, picnics, and business meetings on a regular basis. We have hosted three regional conventions (1981, 1989, and 2003), plus two international conventions (1986 and 1996). All five were very successful in terms of attendance and finances. The club has been selected to host the 2008 CTCI international convention in Portland, Oregon July 28 through August 3, 2008. Three of our members have served on the CTCI Board of Directors, all serving as vice president and president. The current CTCI secretary is also from our club.
Locally we are one of 33 car clubs in the Northwest Car Collectors Association, holding a car show and swap meet each October. As a club we try to help each other keep our cars not only driveable, but in good, safe condition.
The Rose City Thunderbirds require membership in CTCI as a requirement of membership. Dues are $15 per year with an initiation fee of $5. A printable application form is available.
